It's official KING*CHANDLER 2020 on Iowa Presidential ballot!

Updated: Oct 18, 2020

Breaking News. Genealogy Know Your Family History Party will be on the 2020 Iowa Presidential ballot. It just happened. Well, it happened on 6 August 2020, darn spam. A dream has come true with lots and lots of hard work over eight months. I will officially be on the Iowa ballot. The State is reporting we meet the “basic requirements.” I am calling it a WIN.

I, Ricki King, will be the first Black female from Iowa to run for President of the United States of America. It will make Dayna R. Chandler the first Black female from Iowa to run for Vice President of the United States. We are also the first women of any race to run together for President and Vice President of the United States. We are winners!! George Edwin Taylor was the first Black person living in Iowa to run. You can read about him in a post I wrote in November 2019. Note the difference between living in and from Iowa. If you go with “from Iowa” and not “living in Iowa,” then Dayna and I are the first Blacks male or female to run.

Anything is possible as long as you work towards your dream KING*CHANDLER 2020.

Remember, we are running to make history not to win. Now, get out there and VOTE but not for us.

We want to thank James “Jim” Cooper, especially. He put in lots of hours knocking on doors, walking the skywalk, attending festivals, and keeping me motivated to do more in obtaining signatures. I thought it would be easy to get 1,500 signatures boy was I wrong. Jim is a good friend now. Can you believe I met Jim when I asked for his signature on my petition? We also want to thank everyone who took the time to sign our petition and help locate people to represent Iowa’s congressional districts in support of us. Thank you Tom McCann at https://www.mccannphotoperfect.com/ for the wonderful photos. Teamwork and friendship are working together to fulfill my dream.

Side note: My brother Karey King does not know it, but a comment he made in April or May 2019 on Facebook got all this started. Karey, I love you, and thanks for the unknown push you gave me to get this ball rolling. Again, thanks for finding my last congressional elector and being my final signature. It is a good thing I somehow missed getting your signature on the first go around. (Penny King, our mom, was the first signature. You know Mom is always number one.)

I still cannot believe Dayna, and I did it. Let’s hear it for Genealogy Know Your Family History Party.

KING*CHANDLER 2020.

Updated 1 September 2020 to include the final official list from Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate of candidates who qualify in the Iowa general election for President/Vice President.

You are fortunate to have worked so hard collecting signatures in 2019. If you had waited until this year it would have been far more difficult, with mass gatherings canceled due to the pandemic.
