Dred Scott connections

In Davenport, IA, on Saturday I had the opportunity to see the location where Sam, aka Dred Scott, lived when he was in Iowa. His stay in Iowa with Dr. Emerson was part of his Missouri case for freedom.

After talking to a friend and fellow genealogist Kathleen Brandt lshe mentioned to me her family connection with the Dread Scott case. "Prior to the Dred Scott case a less known Supreme Court case used in the Dred Scott as preponderance of evidence was the Strader case of Kentucky. That was my ancestor." It is a very interesting story that I have never heard about.
